Off space Salon Blanc is located at Romestraat 3 in Ostend (near MUzee). It is a one-day art project, curated by artistic couple Els Wuyts and Yves Velter.  The aim is to be a place where people can come four times a year, for one day each time, to experience contemporary art in a relaxed atmosphere like the salon culture of the early 20th century. The December edition will take place on Saturday 3 December from 2pm-8pm with works by Johan Clarysse, Jeroen De Wandel and Liesbeth Vanheurswyn.

Review Frederic Demeyer (the Art Couch):
When I visit the expo, the title has long been chosen, and, in hindsight, it is a logical choice. The artists do not hesitate to dig deep into their own souls in order to distil from there a certain image of the external world. Often this comes down to a deep-seated sense of isolation, although this seems to take on a different form for each artist. Read more

2022 Melancholy, the poetry of the mind: Adornesdomein Brugge

uitnodiging adornes

“When today’s media reduce melancholy to romantic dreaminess, this exhibition wants to make a statement that there is a rich intellectual history beyond this superficiality. The selection of artists is inspired by the attention paid to melancholic themes in their work. This may have to do with the biographical character of their work, architectural accents, mood effects, empty spaces, poetic elements, philosophical reflections or narrative content…”. (J. Késenne)
